CONVERSATIONS: Conversations are a necessary part of the library experience for circulation, research and technical assistance on the main floor of the library; voices should be kept low and minimally intrusive. We have study rooms available for groups.  Please respect the Zone signs posted in each area that designate conversational levels.

CELL PHONE & PERSONAL ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT USE:  Cell phone use is allowed as long as conversations are brief and unobtrusive to others. Please set ringers to low volume or vibrate. Sounds from any personal electronic equipment, such as laptops, audio players and other mobile devices must be inaudible to other patrons.

FOOD & DRINK:  Patrons are allowed to bring food & drink into the library, but must refrain from eating at computer stations. Patrons must be respectful of others and clean up their area after eating/drinking.

Use of Library Spaces

Children in the Library

Service And Comfort Animals

The library follows the Board of Trustees Policy (3.25 Animals on Campus Policy) pertaining to service and comfort animals.

Study Rooms

Study rooms are to be used for course-related research, study and discussion; presentation, speech preparation, and collaboration.  Students may reserve the use of the study rooms using the reservation software, keeping within the guidelines prescribed for their use, and respecting the  zone locations.  Students must leave the study room promptly when their reservation ends. If there is no pending reservation, a group is allowed to stay in the room on an informal basis until the next reservation.  Staff will provide whiteboard markers and erasers on request.

Food & Drink

Patrons are allowed to bring food & drink into the library, but must refrain from eating at computer stations.  Patrons must be respectful of others and clean up their area after eating/drinking.

Noise Levels

The library is divided into zones that describe the acceptable noise levels within each area.  Patrons are expected to respect those restrictions and will be requested by staff to move to another area, if their noise level is inappropriate for that level.

Access for Community Members and Alumni

Use of the library building is open to the wider community. Use of library computers requires registration with the Office of Information Technology. Room reservations are for current students, faculty, and staff only.

Gift/Donation Policy

Gifts of materials, or money to purchase them through the College Foundation, are accepted provided there are no restrictions. In order to determine the suitability of a gift, donors are asked to present a list for consideration by the Library before a donation acceptance is approved.

In the case of gifts of materials, Library acquisition guidelines are used, including: relevance to curriculum, enhancement of existing collection, physical condition, and availability of sufficient shelf space. The library is unlikely to accept gifts of used textbooks. All donations are subject to library updating and withdrawal policies.

A letter of acknowledgement, generally describing the gift and its relevance to the collection, will be provided. The Library cannot provide appraisals of donations.
